HELLO ALL! MY STUDIO IS NOW SERVING MERCER, GROVE CITY, SLIPPERY ROCK, NEW CASTLE, HERMITAGE, AND BEYOND. I AM CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW STUDENTS FOR LESSONS STARTING IN JANUARY. I WILL HAVE SLOTS OPEN ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS! THANKS

Voice and piano lessons are currently available online and in person on Mondays and Thursdays between 4:30pm and 8:00pm. . Online lessons are through Skype, FaceTime or Zoom.

Voice lessons are available for beginner to advanced students ages 8-adulthood. Piano lessons are available for beginner to advanced students ages 6-adulthood.

No matter what instrument you choose to learn, there is an unspoken connection that occurs. You and the instrument become one. You and the instrument, together, through playing, communicate deep thoughts and emotions that evoke a visceral response in anyone who listens. Music truly is a universal language. The piano is a simple, yet complex instrument that challenges its player to focus, care, work, love and communicate that universal language outward.

My philosophy for teaching piano is encouraging my students to learn the instrument as if it were part of their own life lessons. Learning a good work ethic, building confidence, and taking pride in your accomplishments are all life long lessons that can be applied to piano. After all, playing an instrument can be a life long art that can create a great deal of joy and fulfillment.

Basic Info:

Piano lessons are available in my home studio at 58 Courtney Ln, Mercer, PA on Mondays and Thursdays between 4:30 and 8pm and online through FaceTime or Zoom.

Piano lessons are available for beginner to advanced students ages 6-adulthood.

What I teach:

A relaxed approach to piano technique that promotes no tension in the body while playing
Use of proper hand position, developing hand-eye coordination, and maintaining good posture
Reading music notation in both treble and bass clef
Learning scales, chords, arpeggios, dynamics, articulations, etc that are all necessary to reach the level of musicality
Sight-reading
Music composition (writing songs)
An approach that is inclusive of all styles of music (Ex.-Pop, jazz, broadway, movie songs, classical, blues, rock)
Using piano playing as a means to help boost a student's confidence and help strengthen their love of music
Learning how to budget time and make practicing part of your daily routine
Fostering a creative, fun, laid-back learning environment

What's included in lessons:

One on one instruction time for a half hour on a weekly basis (I do not offer every other week as I feel consistency on a weekly basis is very important)
Unlimited access to the website/online portal that will give you online resources such as downloadable scales, exercises, educational videos and resources, and the ability to log practice hours and take notes.
All lesson books, sheet music, supplemental materials

I use the Schaum and Bastien piano book series for all beginner and intermediate piano students. However, I do believe each student has their own learning style and sometimes one book series may work better than another. So, I'm always open to changing to another lesson book if I feel it is better suited for the student.

What you will need bring to lessons:

A notebook or folder which will be used to keep a record what we did in each lesson and so you will know what to practice! (You may also keep one in the notes section of your phone or record your lessons)
Your lesson book
Any supplemental songs/exercises we are working on
Scales papers and rhythm sheets
Flash cards (if needed)

Payments:

For monthly lessons, each student will receive an invoice at the beginning of each month. Payment is due at or before the first lesson.
Pay per lesson students will receive an invoice before their lesson and are required to pay their invoice before or at the time of their lesson.
